IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is the language of communication. In recent years, IELTS has become the most popular English proficiency test worldwide.

English Canada World Organization is currently accepting applications for IELTS examiner positions at its local test center. Examiners chosen will be certified under the IELTS Examiner Training System.

To quality as an IELTS examiner trainee, individuals must have, at minimum, the following qualifications and experience:

  • Applicants must be a native speaker (or a non-native speaker of an overall IELTS band 9 - with a 9 in both Speaking and Writing modules);
  • Applicants must have a relevant TEFL qualification (e.g. CELTA/DELTA);
  • Applicants must have at least three years relevant teaching experience;
  • Applicants must have an undergraduate degree or equivalent).

The benefits of becoming a certified IELTS Examiner are as follows: participants will have an internationally-recognized credential on their resume, professional development experience and the opportunity for additional earnings.

IELTS examiner training will take place over four days and a refundable $300 deposit is required. (Dates to be determined).  Upon completion of training examiners will be required to examine at both Halifax and Moncton test centres. Travel and expenses for Moncton exams will be provided.
