Privacy Notice: Data Protection when you sign up to the IELTS email

Information Collection & Storage

The British Council will use the information that you are providing in connection with your participation in the IELTS Canada email sign up. The legal basis for processing your information is in agreement with our terms and conditions of applicant registration, available online at:

www.britishcouncil.ca/privacy-terms

In order to receive IELTS Canada emails, the British Council will collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • The region (province or territory) where you live
  • Your current status (i.e. test taker, IELTS teacher, Academic professional, Immigration professional, Media)

If you do not provide the above personal data, the British Council will be unable to send you any IELTS-related emails.

As part of signing up to receive emails from British Council IELTS Canada, you may receive:

  • IELTS-related news (test centre openings, latest IELTS news and updates)
  • Information on IELTS preparation material
  • Information on IELTS paid products and services

Storage

All the aforementioned personal information will be stored on the British Council’s secure SharePoint site and will only be accessible by the British Council IELTS Canada Marketing Team.
