Test Report Form Release and Delivery
Being well-informed about your IELTS result is key to a successful IELTS journey. Here you can explore how IELTS results are released and shared.
How can I check my IELTS Result?
Your results will be available to view online at your Test Taker Portal after they are released and are valid for two years. These do not provide an official confirmation of your performance, for that, you’ll need your IELTS Test Report Form.
What is the IELTS Test Report Form?
The IELTS Test Report Form (or TRF) is the official confirmation of your test result that can be shared as proof of your English language proficiency.
How will I receive my TRF?
If you’ve taken IELTS on Computer: you will receive your results electronically. You can download the electronic version (eTRF) from the Test Taker Portal, typically within 1–2 days after your test.
How long would it take to get my IELTS Result?
IELTS on Computer taken at a Test Centre: results are typically available within 1 to 2 days.
How will my TRF be shared with the organisations I’m applying to?
If you’ve taken IELTS On Computer
The electronic copy of the TRF can be downloaded from your Test Taker Portal and you can send it to the organisations you are applying to by email, by post (printing it out) or directly –by you – from your Test Taker Portal.
If the institution you are applying to accepts or requires only the TRF Number, you can get it through your Test Taker Portal.
Please note that it is no longer a requirement to provide Test Takers a second personal hardcopy of the TRF for the purposes of application to Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Enquiry on Results (EOR)
If you are not satisfied with your IELTS results, you can request a re-mark through our Enquiry on Results (EOR) service. Your test will be reviewed by senior IELTS examiners. IELTS One Skill Retake
As One Skill Retake (OSR) is currently available only for IELTS Academic on Computer, test takers will receive an electronic Test Report Form (eTRF). The usual IELTS on Computer TRF rules apply, but a separate eTRF will not be issued for OSR results.

Although IELTS results do not come out at a specific time of day, results are typically available within 1 to 2 days after the exam date for IELTS on Computer.
If your overall score is an average of 6.25, your score will be rounded up to 6.5. The score of 6.25 is precisely between band 6 and band 6.5, so in this case IELTS will round it up to the nearest score which is 6.5.
The IELTS is not a pass-or-fail test. However, for IELTS Academic, if you didn’t show your full potential on test day in one of the four skills (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking), you can consider IELTS One Skill Retake with the British Council.
If you are not satisfied with your IELTS results, you can request a review of your score through our Enquiry on Results (EOR) service. Your test will be re-marked by senior IELTS examiners.
You can request a re-mark of your entire IELTS test or select one or more individual sections:
- Listening
- Reading
- Writing
- Speaking
You must submit your Enquiry on Results request within six weeks of your test date. Requests received after this deadline cannot be accepted.
Log in to your Test Taker Portal, go to the Results page and select the option to apply for an Enquiry on Results.
You will need to pay an EOR fee when submitting your request. If your band score increases following the re-mark, the EOR fee will be refunded. Please contact your test centre for information about applicable fees.
Your EOR outcome may be available as soon as the same day you apply and up to 21 days after submitting your request. The processing time can vary depending on several factors, including the number of test sections you have asked us to re-mark.
If you have not received an outcome after 21 days, please contact your test centre.
Once the review is complete, your test centre will be notified of the outcome. If your score changes, your test centre will issue an updated Test Report Form (TRF).
